So, yesterday i had a long long discussion with my Professor.

With my 1st draft thesis in her hand.

Yeah. It was a super lousy one.

I knew it all along.

But i submitted it last week anyway,

so that she would know my situation and how lost i am.

By reading my 'masterpiece.'

It was a long, difficult journey writing them up.

Especially with my unstable mind, and a bleeding heart.

A lost soul.

A perfect description on my condition for the last few months.

Keyword here: Focus.

Yes. I admit that the thesis was such a lousy draft because i didn't put enough effort on it.

I lost my focus on it for such a long long time.

No matter how hard i try to push myself trying to focus writing them up,

things were not getting anywhere.

And of course, i didn't tell her that.

I don't like giving excuses for my own mistakes.

And i bet, nobody likes to hear excuses too.

But right now, with lots a lots of do'a and lots and lots of love from great people around me,

i'm slowly picking up myself.

And I shall do justice to myself.

So here I am,

in this Holly month of Ramadhan,

preparing the 2nd draft of the thesis this time,

with a slightly more peaceful mind,

with heart that is almost healed

and a soul who has found its way back.

Alhamdulillah. Wuhooo!

Lagi satu paper finally being accepted by an international peer-reviewed journal (this time to IJMS), wei! Finally! After kena reject 18 juta kali.

And tadi Prof. Bakar datang and congratulated me. And ajak lunch untuk celebrate. Tapi malangnya kena cancel sebab dia ada lak plan lain pasal kerja. Nak jumpa orang lain. Oh well. It's ok. Dia datang jumpa pun dah kira super best dah. I'm so happy. Alhamdulillah.

Oh semalam dapat news ni masa tengah meeting dengan Prof Raja. She was seating next to me, pastu tetiba dia pegang my hand and show me her BB. Congrats, Ferrol! And she smiled. I rasa nak peluk dia je. Benda takde lah hebat sangat but she knows how difficult it was for me to get this thing published. This part of my work yg sangat tak hebat, sangat tak novel sangat. Bahasa pasar nya, sangat kodi. Haha. Tapi dapat gak published! Alhmadulillah.

Pastu lepas meeting, I webcam call dengan Mr. Chef. Told him about the good news. And he was like..'hmm ok.'

And i was disappointed and said 'Hmmm ok je? Tak cakap congrats pun!'

Then he said something like, 'tak semestinya congrats tu keluar dari saya punya mulut. Dari mata pun awak boleh nampak bla bla bla..'

Pastu I mumbled. 'Camne I nak tengok dari mata sebab your eyes are too small. Tak nampak benda pun..'

Hehe.

Balik rumah, told my mom about it. And of course she was happy too. Hehe. And alhamdulillah today pun nampak mak semakin ok.

It is official. My mom has just been diagnosed with depression, which could be an early sign of Alzheimer's. The doctor prescribed her two types of anti-depressant meds. I pray to God that she won't be experiencing any withdrawal syndrome from these meds.

I am totally fucked up. I have a very important meeting with our Japanese collaborators this Monday. But I am not ready at all. My Professor doesn't know about that. All that she knows is that she has this mega high expectation on me. Because she had already promised the Japanese that I will provide mega stuff for this meeting. I have exactly 36 hours from now to fucking make sure that the meeting will not be a disaster. Fuck Earth Hour crap. I'm not gonna switch off ~~my laptop~~ the lights tonight.

I just wish my Chef is here with me. Feeding me with his super delicious ayam percik (whole leg please). Telling me stupid jokes with his pecah rumah language. Telling me that everything is gonna be ok. I miss him. I don't care anymore about other things. I just have to wait another three more months. Wuhoo! Yes, baby. Just three more months!

Yeah. That's me again. My default tersengih face, baru balik dari gym. Guess what, I've finally lost 10 kg! Within almost 3 months. Wuhooo! Alhamdulillah. I'm feeling so super duper good. I still need to lose another 10 (or perhaps 15) more kg in order to get the ideal weight for my height.

I love my new fun&healthy lifestyle. I still eat rice twice everyday (but err the portion is ~~ridiculously~~ small). I cut down carbs and fat and oil. Oh well. What's new about that, huh? *yawn*.

I carefully choose the carbs that i take daily- only those with low GI. But if i still want to eat those normal GI carbs, i take them in super small portions (read: around 2 spoons of rice for lunch and another 2 spoons for dinner). To accompany my super small portion of rice, i take big portions of everything else, especially fish and vege (and of course together with another bowl of fresh raw vege or a bowl of fresh fruits before and/or after each meal). I don't starve myself at all. In fact, i try to eat before i start to feel hungry. In between meals, i take some snacks like cream crackers or some nuts or more fruits. I don't eat anything after 7:30 pm (my dinner is usually around 6:30 or 7 pm). Oh lupa, as for breakfast, I take a bowl of oatmeal with a bowl of fresh fruits/ salad and a glass of milk or hot tea. At times, I still take nasik lemak or any other typical breakfast meals like mee goreng or lontong or nasik kerabu, but in small portions, of course. Oh oh, and i eat raw tomatoes (in my salad) almost for every meal everyday. I take them for knowing the fact that tomatoes are good in general, so why not just eat them everyday in every meal (from my reading they said 20 tomatoes/day is the maximum that you can eat. More than that, baru boleh cakap overdosed)

As for work outs, i go to the gym at least 4 times a week. I love running on the treadmills. Oh and i totally enjoy the belly pop dance class. My belly dance instructor, Tony (he's 60 years old, all muscles, always topless) is a very passionate dancer and he is so supportive and i think he likes me. He gives extra attention to me during each class and he once came to me with a serious face and said that i've improved a lot since the first time he saw me joined the class. I've realized that dancing is really my kind of thing and i also feel that i'm getting better at it each day. Hehe.

At the moment, i'm trying to start some weight trainings and try to join some other classes provided by the gym.

Once in a while (actually everweekends, hehe), i treat myself with some comfort food like...

Tutti fruitti frozen yogurt! *slurrrrrrrrrrppsss*

More Wondermilk cupcakes! *om nom nom nom* ( You guys go ahead with those macaroons, I'm still faithfully stuck with these cute yummy cupcakes. Hehe.)

Or even a complete meal of very oishiii Japanese food from Miyagi Restaurant, Bangi. Yummms!

This is another sort of a treat for me :) And the best part is, i got this as a gift. Weeeeeehee!

It's 12 midnight and all i can think of is urmm.. yummy Japanese food! This is so wrong! tengah-tengah malam mana boleh pikir pasal makan, wei! I keep thinking of those yummy udon meals i had during both visits to Japan last year. The simple but tasty dishes kat cafe Uni of Hyogo. Those yummy fresh sushis..those yummy cream puffs! Oh oh and that yummy warm taiyaki during the cold winter. And of course the oh-so-sedap green tea ice-cream in ANA flights. Hoi! Mengada betul! Seriously, at the moment i tengah sambil google that green tea ice-cream served in ANA flight. At least dapat brand dia boleh lah carik kot-kot ada kat sini. Argh! And for the yummy udons, sushis and other dishes tu dah decide dah nanti MESTI nak try makan kat Miyagi Restaurant kat Bangi tu. Dari hari tu lagi rasa nak try tapi tak try-try lagi. From review baca tadi (yes. sempat google it up juga tadi) semua pun kata the food there sedap. Oh well. TAK SABAR NYA NAK MAKAN KAT SITU! Ya Allah apsal teruk sangat cravings ni?

Neways, talk about food, after sort of 'dicabar' oleh Si Tukang Masak, finally i dah try masak yang dia sibuk suruh buat tu- Ikan keli salai masak lemak cekur. When i first googled about this dish, semua pun cakap this dish is an authentic famous Jawa dish. Harharhar! Oh. Rupanya ada cubaan menJawakan saya rupanya. Lepas cerita dekat Mak pun Mak buat muka sambil mumble, 'Hmmpph..cekur ni orang Jawa je yang suka makan.'

Haha. Tapi as usual lah, Mak mesti lah memberi support kepada anaknya walau apa pun. So one day tu Mak pun temankan pergi beli ikan keli siap salai pastu pergi kedai beli cekur tu pulak. Bear in mind, in my famliy, we all tak pernah langsung masak guna cekur ni. So masa kat kedai, even Mak pun tak sure which one is cekur. Siap tersalah ambik lagi sebab Mak confident je amik benda lain yang dia ingat cekur. Haha. Pastu orang kedai tu yang bagitau the real cekur tu yang mana.

So, long story short, after more tahn one hour in the kitchen, siap lah dish tu. I masak from scratch. Even kelapa pun I perah sebab nak pekat. Perah kelapa bukan lah bidang kerja saya di dapur selalunya sebab tu Mak yang buat. But this time Mak suruh I buat semua sendiri.

Here is the image of the dish- Ikan keli salai masak lemak cekur. For Jawa people dia panggil ni Pecel Ikan keli (but i think they have some term for ikan keli but i can't remember.)

I masak dua ekor je. For our lunch. For me and Mak. Habis je makan semua. Bak kata Mak (when i asked ok ke sedap ke?) 'Boleh lah makan...'

But after few days later, baru lah Mak buat confession kata dia tak beapa suka sangat sebab cekur tu punya bau and rasa sangat strong. Indeed i pun rasa pelik sikit lah sebab all my life memang tak pernah ada that bau/rasa as ingredient dalam semua masakan we all. But according to Mr. Chef and few Jawa friendsof mine, dish ni kira paling sedap and diorang sangat-sangat suka lah makan. Even masa Mr. Chef video call with me explain pasal dish ni and how to masak it pun dia terliur gila bila bercerita. Haha. Oh well, unfortunately for me i personally rasa dish ni biasa-biasa je. Maybe i yang masak tak sedap ke tah lah. Tapi as Mak cakap lah, rasa cekur tu we all tak biasa. Hehe. Nak buat camne. Ingat senang ke nak menJawa kan minang hardcore nih?

I miss your scent

I really pray hard that soon the technology will create some ways on how to transfer smell via the internet or mobiles. New Skype with smell transfer technology. Download now. Oh how i wish.

I really miss him. I miss the smell of Dublin rain, while strolling along Grafton St. with him. On our way to St Stephen's Green Mall. I miss his smell while we were walking side by side strolling along Henry's St. Passing by Dunnes Store.

I miss the smell of his giant prawn with black beans (a.k.a simply udang masak taucu by me-suka hati je). I miss the smell of his cappuccino.

I miss his smell on my sand colored scarf that he wore around his neck during our half day trip to Newgrange on that wonderful Wednesday.

Oh dear. It's already almost five months after I met him. And now I miss him like gila (bak kata Sharifah Amani). Still have another four months to go. The longest four months of my entire life.

Insyaallah.

Random di hujung minggu

1) Weekends adalah waktu yang ditakuti. Sebagai contoh, hari ini Sabtu adalah hari my sibling semua (kecuali Abang sebab dia kat Bangkok) balik rumah. So jadi nya rumah akan ada some sort of pesta makan. Dari pagi lagi, Mak dah tetiba ajak pergi beli sinful lontong kat kedai luar. Beli kena extra sebab nanti kot-kot Kak Ijah nak rasa juga bila dia balik nanti. Pukul 10:30 Kak Ijah, Imran and Amir sampai. Bawak Tau fu fah empat bekas, soya milk 2 plastik. Ok lah memang semua tu saya yang pesan (sebab soya base food amat bagus untuk diet saya) tapi takde lah sampai banyak macam tu. Tau fu fah still ok sebab gula asing, so bila saya makan, i just makan kosong or just letak few tiny drops of gula melaka tu je. Tapi yang silap nya soya milk tu dah bergula. So tak berani lah nak minum sangat. Pukul 10:45 am, Abg Yed pulak sampai, and as usual Abg yed ada this crazy style of buying food. So tadi dia bawa balik Kuey Teow goreng Auntie Gemuk Kelana Jaya, Mee Kari Cina Kelana Jaya (size Jumbo), Nasik lemak with 3 different lauk- 2 bungkus! Gila tak? Walaupun boleh tahan diri untuk tak makan beriya, tapi saya still merasa setiap makanan tu juga walaupun beberapa sudu. Tapi cuba pikir, kalau dah ada 4 jenis makanan, walaupun rasa sedikit setiap satu pun dah berapa banyak dah kalori yang saya consume? Adoi.

Pastu bila dah ramai-ramai ni, Mak mestilah nak excited nak masak (walaupun food yang kununnya for breakfast still tak luak). So for lunch menu hari ini adalah kurma ayam, mix veggie, tempe tauhu goreng belada. Pukul 2:45 pm, Along and anak-anak dari Seremban sampai, so we all pun makan lah lunch beramai. Sebab dah makan ramai-ramai, minum pun nak air manis-manis lah kan. So, ada lah pulak air laici+longan for lunch. Extra calories lagi (walaupun minum sikitttt je).

Bila lepas lunch, sambil-sambil borak-borak tengok tv, mula lah sorang-sorang bukak fridge bawak keluar macam-macam food yang ada- terutamanya chocolates yang memang sentiasa banyak and cookies and kerepek and stuff. Semua benda tu selama ni elok je saya tak usik kalau diorang tak balik. Now bila diorang ada, automatic sama-sama lah makan. Petang pulak ada goreng pisang and all that oily stuff. Arghhhhhh!!!

Makanan sesambil beborak. Erm.

2) Hari ni juga, Abg Yed bagi my nephew Iqbal A brand new BlackBerry sempena results PMR dia dapat straight As and dapat pulak masuk boarding school Sekolah Alam Shah, Putrajaya. Baby pulak dapat new Nokia X5 sempena her UPSR aritu. Mak pun dapat the same phone (sempena err phone yang Mak guna dah lama sangat kot). I was really happy for them. Tapi yang kesian nya Mira my niece yang tahun ni form 3. She didn't get anything sebab dia takde big exams last year. Dia super sedih and upset i think. Baru teringat, last time dia punya good results for UPSR takde pulak Abg Yed bagi dia anything. So i guess sebab tu lah dia sedih kot. Tapi tadi before dia balik Mak bagi dia some cash sebab kesian lah kat dia. It was such an emotional moment masa Mak bagi dia duit tu sebab Mak pun sebak, and mata Mira pun berair. Sigh. I myself masa excited tengok Iqbal dapat BB tu, terjerit-jerit merengek kat Abg Yed telling him how much i want an iPhone4. Hehe. Half joking, half berharap. Memang buruk lah perangai, with my age macam ni still berharap orang lain keluarkan duit untuk something i really want. Tapi takde lah serious sangat pun. Kalau dapat, Alhamdulillah. Haha. Teringat dulu masa zaman sekolah, everytime exams takde pulak i pernah berharap dapat apa-apa hadiah. Tapi ye lah zaman tu zaman gerhana family we all. Masa tu sangat susah. Abah sampai kena selalu amik over time kerja. Balik rumah pulak, Abah and Mak pergi menoreh getah untuk tambah duit. Pastu bila my sister or brother nak masuk Uni ke nak exam besar ke my mom akan bergadai barang kemas untuk dapatkan duit. Masakan pulak zaman tu I nak mengada-ngada expect hadiah untuk results exams kan.

3) Talking about iPhone4, rasanya secara practical, i don't really need it that much pun. Cuma sangat rindu dengan applications iPhone yang best-best macam Angry Bird game tu, Doodle Jump, and so many other apllications yang cool nak mampos. Lagi pun, i can use it during my running kat gym untuk dengar iTunes. Oh and boleh videocall Skype di mana-mana pada bila-bila masa. Aaaaaahhh bestnya! Macam Mr Chef buat sekarang ni. Video call with me using his iPhone4 di mana-mana dia berada sedangkan i kena lah berada di satu tempat saja (rumah, lab) sebab online guna laptop (bukan iPhone4 macam dia). Tak adil betul! Tapi kan bila pikir balik, for someone yang memang always on the run, selalu busy, kurang masa di rumah and tak boleh sesuka hati melekap depan laptop, memang sesuai sangat lah Mr Chef guna iPhone4 especially untuk melayan girlfriend dia yang extra needy and clingy ni. Hehe. And for someone yang memang sentiasa melekap depan laptop sama ada di rumah atau dia lab, tak berapa perlu lah sangat pun nak ada iPhone4 kalau niat kata nak guna video call Skype. Hehe.

It's really true! The less we complain, the happier we will become. Sounds really cliche (or corny, some people kata), but it really works that way.

So, dah masuk tahun baru ni, ~~marilah~~ cubalah kita kurang mengeluh, kurang complain pasal semua benda/semua orang. Kurangkan nampak semua benda negative je.

Ok lah. Kira ni lagu sedih last lah yang ada dalam kepala saya untuk hari terakhir tahun 2010. Tahun yang paling berwarni-warni dan semestinya tahun favourite saya! Takde satu benda pun yang berlaku dalam tahun 2010 yang saya akan kesalkan. Dari Jepun, ke Dublin, ke Vietnam semuanya sangat indah dan memberikan makna dalam hidup saya. Dan saya bersyukur for once saya dapat bulatkan hati untuk decide apa/siapa saya perlu dan yang tidak perlu dalam kehidupan saya.

Work wise, hmm this year i have successfully published 1 paper and submitted 2 papers in international peer reviewed journals, thesis still tak siap. Kau ingat senang nak write up PhD thesis, hah? =P Nak pulak lab work kena ditambah lah pulak lagi. Tak pe. Perlu bersabar sikit lagi.

Saya juga diberikan peluang untuk melalui satu relationship yang cukup 'cycle' nya. For that, I have to thank you, Chef Azhary Selamat. You will always be in heart and my mind. You genuinely treated me with love, kindness and respect. Kesemuanya akan kekal dalam memori hidup saya.
